Dr. Heikki Hassi has more than 30 years of experience in management and executive positions in leading international companies in the pulp, paper, and cellulosic textile fibre industry in Finland, Central Europe, and Indonesia. He has led major mill/business operations as well as R&D, technology, and investment functions and projects. Currently, he is the chairman and a senior partner in SciTech-Service Oy, Ltd, a provider of R&D, process up-scaling, and conceptual engineering services to biomass-based industries, globally (https://www.scitech.fi ). He earned his Ph.D. (chemistry) degree at North Carolina State University, U.S.A. in 1985 and M.Sc. (pulp and paper) degree at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland (Aalto University) in 1978. He is an inventor in several patents.
Dr. Xiang You is currently a Post-doc in SciTech-Service Oy, Ltd, which she joined in late 2019. She investigates the new feedstock for the manufacture of viscose fiber and targets to enable process intensification. Previously, Xiang worked in a Nordic innovation consulting company. Together with the team, she coordinated a large-scale innovation project with a volume of over €1 B. Xiang was in charge of promoting international cooperation and networking and bridging between Chinese and Finnish technological actors. All the while ensuring that the program followed a high scientific standard and creates industrial value. Xiang holds a Ph.D. in Biorefineries from Aalto University (Finland). She has many scientific publications on biomass fractionation, pulp characterization and valorization, the processability of cellulose in MMCF manufacture, and one worldwide patent. During her post-doc time, she has worked in both Australia and Finland. |
