Yiming has a doctor’s degree in textile engineering at Donghua University
and he is a visiting scholar of University of California. He used
to work in purchasing department of Trade Alliance Inc. (US) and China
ERAL Group. Now he is acting as technical director of Nu Cybertek
Inc. He is familiar with raw materials of different fabrics and function testing methods, as well as their processing technology, principle of design and inspection standard. Working as a textile trainer, the training course includes characteristics and selection methods of textile raw materials, fabric structure characteristics and product design considerations, fabric testing standards, special fabric treatment (fire-retardant, anti-ultraviolet, anti-photooxidation aging and electromagnetic shield, etc). He is proficient in subjective & objective assessment methods of apparel and feel as well as monitoring human physiological signal by wearable sensor and has multi-dimensional analysis of physiological model. He is also familiar with the application of micro-nano functional finish in textiles. |

Innovation drivers in the viscose fiber industry --Ernst Sandrieser , Bright Field International Limited
Mr. Sandrieser’s educational background covers business high-school
and studies of business-oriented Software Engineering in Austria and
in the USA; he graduated 1993 from University of Klagenfurt in Austria. In 1995 he joined Lenzing Group as Sales Manager for fiber and yarn testing instruments. In 2000 he shifted to Lenzing’s core fiber business to take sales responsibility for North and South American and South Asian markets. In 2004 Mr. Sandrieser moved to Shanghai, where he established Lenzing Fibers (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and took post of the General Manager of this entity. After the start-up of Lenzing’s Viscose fiber production in Nanjing in 2007, he was also appointed Sales Director of Lenzing (Nanjing) Fibers Co., Ltd. and as such in charge of Lenzing’s entire textile fiber business in China. During his tenure, the business in China has grown to the largest single market for Lenzing Fibers globally. In 2009 Mr. Sandrieser was appointed Global Sales Director of the Business Unit Textile Fibers, where he together with his team of highly professional regional sales managers in three continents, achieved sales revenues of more than 1.2 billion EUR/year. In 2010 and 2011 Lenzing consecutively reached historic records in sales revenues and profits. After a major reorganization within Lenzing Group, Mr. Sandrieser was appointed Vice President Product Management Viscose Fibers in January 2014. At the end of 2014 he decided to leave Lenzing Group after 20 years of service, and to start his own business with Bright Field International Ltd. out of Asia. His company aims to be a competence center for fibers, presently with a strong orientation of promoting leading Chinese synthetic fiber producers on global export markets. Mr. Sandrieser is Austrian citizen, 49 years old, married and has two children.

Ms. Anna Palmberg is currently
working as Materials and Innovation Developer for Textiles at Range,
Design and Development at IKEA of Sweden. She leads development block
of Made Cellulose fiber development in long term for IKEA. Ms. Anna
Palmberg is a textile engineer from Borås Textile University and did
her Masters in AUTEX E-TEAM, at Uni of Tampere, Uni of Aachen and
Uni of Minho. She has extensive experience in both technological and
business development textile industry: worked for the Business Area
Textiles at IKEA of Sweden with both short and long term development
of the textiles; participated prior to IKEA with technical textiles
and application development for B2B, eg in the airbag fabrics, fabrics
for defense and industrial applications; explored the potential for
new business development for the entire Borås Cotton group including
Strömma, SKS (AB Swedish KonstArt Silk), Borås Cotton Home Textiles
and Borås Cotton Industry Textiles with production units for spinning,
weaving, finishing and twinning of yarn for technical textiles, etc.

Christian Chavassieu has
over 20 years’ experience in the cellulose Industry . He is currently
a managing partner at CelCo, a consulting company mainly focused on
the Dissolving Wood Pulp Industry. He previously held positions with
Sateri as sales and marketing Director , with Buckeye Technologies
Inc. as senior vice president of the Wood pulp division and with Chavassieu
& Cie SA, a pulp and paper trading company based in France as
its President. Also worked for Apple computer and Schlumberger in
various finance executive positions. Christian holds a bachelor degree
in marketing from Institut Supérieur de Gestion in Paris and a master
degree in business administration from Columbia University in New

Mr. Jussi Piira is the Research
Manager, Fiberline at ANDRITZ Oy’s Helsinki office in Finland. He joined ANDRITZ PULP & PAPER in 2007 as the Process Engineer, Cooking Specialist for the Fiberline Division. He was appointed as the Research Manager, Cooking in 2009 and then in 2014 as the Research Manager, Fiberline. Jussi is responsible for planning, managing and developing the laboratory and pilot plant activities carried out at ANDRITZ’ Pulp & Paper R&D Center in Glens Falls, USA. He has been heavily involved in developing the laboratory simulation on ANDRITZ’ technological solutions for dissolving pulping and in managing various dissolving pulping studies carried out at the laboratory. Jussi has been involved in all dissolving pulping conversion projects ANDRITZ has supplied globally to various pulp mills. He has also participated in the start-ups of those systems. Prior to ANDRITZ, Jussi worked for 3.5 years at SciTech Process Research Oy Inc. His latest position was the Research & Account Manager. Jussi has graduated as Master of Science (Tech.) on Chemical Pulping from Department of Forest Products Technology at Helsinki University of Technology. He is a member of Paper Engineers’ Association in Finland and TAPPI. |

Competitive dynamics of dissolving wood pulp mills and the
market implications for DWP buyers --Richard Bassett,Charlestown Investments
Mr. Richard Bassett is the
Managing Partner of Charlestown Investments which previously acquired
the Port Alice dissolving wood pulp mill in British Columbia, Canada
renamed Neucel. It was restarted by Mr. Bassett and his colleagues
from Charlestown Investments. More recently, Charlestown Investments acquired the Cosmopolis dissolving wood pulp mill in Washington State together with private equity partners Gores Capital and Mr. Dermot Smurfit. Prior to becoming an investment principal, Mr. Bassett served as a corporate finance adviser to more than 250, Fortune 500 Companies and Banks including Shell, Hoechst/Aventis, IBM, Citibank, Novartis, Total, UBS and more than 100 other firms. During his tenure as an adviser on: creating shareholder value, M&A, optimal capital structure and capital budgeting / corporate investment strategies, Mr. Bassett advised on more than $65 billion in closed transactions and more than $100 billion in internal investments. These transactions and investments provided Mr. Bassett with the opportunity to work in more than 35 countries and across a range of industries. Opportunities in alternative pulp grades for viscose manufacture --Heikki Hassi , Scitech
Dr. Heikki Hassi has long
experience in pulp & paper and textile fibre industries. He acted
as the CEO and technical director of Avilon Fibres Oy in Finland until
2012. In 2013, he became a partner of Scitech Service Oy, an innovative
technology service company, which acquired Avilon’s technologies and
the viscose & spinning laboratory. Also former Avilon’s / former
Säteri’s technical and manufacturing data bases are owned by Scitech,
covering , e.g. fire retardant viscose fibre, industrial solutions
like the use of paper grade pulp as the raw material of viscose fibre
(PPV technology) and the R&D projects like carbamate fibre and
antimicrobial viscose fibre. Dr. Hassi got his MSc degree at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland, in 1978 and later earned his doctorate at North Carolina State University, USA. Before joining Avilon Fibres, he has served as the Operations and Technical Director of RAPP (APRIL Group) in Indonesia; SVP and Group Director, Technology at Ahlstrom Paper Group in the Netherlands; VP, R&D, Technology and Investment coordination at UPM-Kymmene in Finland and R&D Manager at Metsä-Serla Group in Finland. Several patents have been granted to Dr. Hassi in the field of cellulosic and lignin based products. |
